Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Audio CD's & Vinyl Record Albums Formed by trumpeter Philip Jones in 1951, PJBE was one of the first modern classical brass ensembles. The group started as a quartet drawn from musicians of the Covent Garden Opera House Orchestra, later the ensemble performed either as a quintet or as a ten-piece. In 1986, Philip Jones announced his retirement, and on June 8 the same year, PJBE played their last public performance.
