Laurindo Almeida Audio CD's & Vinyl Record Albums Laurindo Jose de Araujo Almeida Nobrega Neto: Classical guitarist from Brazil (born 2 September 1917 in Prainha (now called Miracatu), Sao Paulo, Brazil - died: 26 July 1995 in Van Nuys, California, USA). Considered a master of the instrument, he could command many styles, most regularly those from his native Brazil. Not widely known, but featured in a 1964 episode of British BBC TV program "Jazz 625" with Modern Jazz Quartet —including John Lewis, Percy Heath, Connie Kay, & especially vibraphonist Milt Jackson; covering many tracks and periods in a modern jazz style, including a cover of Johann Sebastian Bach and version of track "Swing Low Sweet Chariot"— thus leading to joint album titled "Collaboration". |
