Walter Murphy & The Big Apple Band Vinyl Record Albums Classically-trained pianist and former advertising jingle writer, whose disco single "A Fifth Of Beethoven" topped the US Hot Hundred in 1976 and was subsequently featured on the best-selling soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever". The Big Apple Band didn't actually exist, but the record company (Private Stock) decided the record would sell better if it were credited to a group - and apparently it worked. |
